Website Design

When it comes to website design we aim to be the lowest priced. Although we do price match against competitors we have strict rules regarding the legitimacy of what is classed as a "competitor". The matching quote must come in a written quotation from a registered business within the Essex area. The business must also provide a written quotation which is signed by their website designer or manager proving that the document is legitimate.

When designing your website we will always require a deposit upfront. The deposit is there to protect us as a business in case you change your mind, take your time getting required information to us or in an extreme case cannot design the website to meet your requirements. In any case of dispute we will only ever refund a maximum of 50% of the deposit. Every case is reviewed on a per case basis.

Although we always strive to build your website by the date we give you when receiving your deposit there may be cases where we cannot deliver your website on time. At no point do we deliver or guarantee a return or refund of a deposit or lower the final price that needs to be paid on completion of your website.

Once the deposit has been paid to us we go to work on your website. We give you an estimated completion date for your website and strive to meet the deadline. Sometimes we will have it done sooner than expected. Once a website hits the completion date and you are ready for your website to go online we will require the remaining balance to be paid before the website goes online. We give you a grace period of 14 days to get this to us. After the 14 days have past we have the right to charge you 10% of your remaining balance on top of your existing remaining balance in interest for the period we are without your final balance. Every case is reviewed on a per case basis and we can be very leniant when it comes to negotiating a payment date providing a valid reason has been given.

Copyright of a website design at all times remains with IRC Direct Website Services unless under specific arrangement from our management. A fair usage policy applies to our clients which includes not using the website to promote propaganda, piracy or illegal material. If we find your website is selling illegal products or promoting something that we feel is not properly allowed on the internet we can choose to make your website offline at any point until the issue is resolved.

When it comes to updating your website we charge an hourly rate for an update unless an agreed price for the extra work has previously been agreed. Our hourly rate for updates are charged at £10 per hour. Visits to talk about your website updates are also charged at our hourly rate and must be paid when we meet with you.

After two years from your completion date we will come back to you regarding renewing your website. If you wish to renew your website for a further two years the price is £80. This covers the website you have with us to stay live for another two years. This includes a free renewal of the domain name and website hosting.

Domain Names

IRC Direct offer a "free" .co.uk or .com domain name to our customers when purchasing a new website design. We are not a domain name registrar. We use "One and One Ltd" as our registrar portal for registering domain names. If for any reason we charge you for the domain name this is a pre-agreed amount before the domain name has been registered and includes a low-cost administrator charge for modification.

.co.uk domain names are registered with "One and One Ltd" for a period of two years. Domain names are automatically renewed and we will issue you the renewal price for the domain name normally with your renewal invoice for your website design. This price can include an administrator fee for renewing the domain name itself but is normally a fixed price.

All domain names are registered with "One and One Ltd" through our own domain name account. The whois details are set to "Ian Colley, 41 Fetherston Road, Stanford Le Hope, Essex, SS17 0BU" and the domain name is always completely registered to these details. We do this to keep control of your domain name and website whilst you are with us. If for any reason the client wants control of any of the domain name(s) they have with IRC Direct Website Services then we can unlock your domain name to be transferred away from us for an administrator fee of £80 per domain. This covers us for the time to physically go to "One and One Ltd" and perform an update of the domains details. This fee is not negiotable and covers any domain name you wish to transfer away from us.

.com domain names are registered with "One and One Ltd" and are registered on a 1 year renewal basis. After 1 year from registration your domain name will be due for renewal. The price for the domain renewal includes the price we pay plus an administrator fee for processing the renewal.

Customers are free to use existing domains registered with them and their registrars when coming to IRC Direct Website Services. By completing your website design we hold no responsibility for a domain name registered by you. We only manage the website hosting (if applicable to your account) and the website design.

If for any reason your domain name is promoting offensive, propaganda, pirated or illegal material we have the right to use your domain name to take down your website. If for any reason we receive legal documents against a domain name then we reserve the right to forward all the legal documents to the customer and to provide any authority with the clients details.

Website Hosting

We offer website hosting the IRC Direct server. The server is a dedicated server based in Chicaco, America. The server is manned by a team of professionals 24/7 and maintains an uptime of 99.9% throughout the year. If for any reason the server will be down for a short period of time then we will try and notify our clients of this downtime. In events out of our control the server may go offline without our knowledge. In this event you can contact us to let us know. We will not reimburse any expense of money back to clients because of downtime on the server. We always treat each client on a one on one basis.

We strive to ensure the website hosting is secure and that we are providing the best service. For clients which have access to the server and also have access to modify their website will abide by all the rules above including the rules regarding piracy, propaganda and illegal material which is strictly forbidden.

If you just want to purchase website hosting from us we can do this but you will need to point your domain name to our server. Our nameservers are ns1.ircdirect.co.uk and ns2.ircdirect.co.uk.
